Therapy for Women Struggling with Perfectionism & Overthinking

Wilmington, NC

You’re good at holding it all together. But what if you’re tired of having to?

You may be the person everyone counts on. You care deeply, work hard, and have high standards for yourself. Yet underneath that competence, your mind may rarely give you a break.

You replay conversations, second-guess decisions, worry about getting things wrong, and wonder if you’re doing enough. Even when things are going well, it can be difficult to actually feel good about yourself or enjoy the moment.

If perfectionism and overthinking have become exhausting, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

I’m Kimberly, a licensed therapist in private practice in downtown Wilmington, NC, and I especially enjoy working with women who are ready to step out of the cycle of self-criticism, worry, and trying to get everything “just right.”

As a therapist, I bring both professional experience and personal understanding to this work. I’m a perfectionist and an overthinker too, so I understand how convincing that inner voice can be—and how difficult it can be to turn it down.

My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, ACT helps us change our relationship with them. Together, we can learn to make room for uncertainty, quiet the struggle with your inner critic, and move toward the people, experiences, and values that matter most to you.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. You don't have to arrive with everything figured out. You don't even have to know exactly what's wrong. We can start where you are and work together to understand what's keeping you stuck and what you want your life to look like instead.

I work primarily with women and offer in-person counseling in downtown Wilmington and telehealth throughout North Carolina.

You don't need to become less caring, less ambitious, or less conscientious. You can keep the qualities that make you who you are while learning to hold yourself with more kindness and flexibility.

If you're ready to spend less time overthinking your life and more time living it, I’d be glad to help.
